Pro-gay lobby groups will not force Poland to redefine marriage, its President has said.

President Andrzej Duda insists that marriage shall remain between a man and a women and his party would not “water down this clause and open interpretation that marriage could also include other genders”.

“I unequivocally repeat: marriage in accordance with the Polish Constitution is a union between a man and a woman”, he said.

The President was responding to a question asked by Polish broadcaster TV Republika.

President Duda’s Law and Justice party have been in power since 2015 and are known for promoting traditional family values.
