Electing family values – insight from the frontline

In light of the recent US elections, where family and social issues were at the forefront, you may like to listen to my conversation with David Kurten. David is a former London Assembly Member and Leader of the Heritage Party, fielding 41 candidates in the 2024 UK General Election.

We discuss the unique value of marriage between one man and one woman. David, known for his socially conservative stance, is one of the few political leaders openly standing for traditional marriage. Watch the full conversation online to hear the challenges he faces and his vision for strengthening family values in the UK:

David emphasises that “marriage is a man and a woman”, and believes it must be championed as the best environment for raising children. He stresses that “no child should deliberately be brought up without its own mother and father”, criticising practices like surrogacy that disrupt this natural order. David also points out that the evidence in support of traditional family structures is clear—children do best when raised by both biological parents. He urges society to prioritise children’s needs over adult desires.

David also spoke about the hostility he has faced in the media for holding these views. He shared how he was vilified for defending traditional marriage, with some even attempting to silence him completely. Despite this, David remains determined, calling for more people to stand up for traditional values. He underlines the need for a broader societal change, stating, “All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”.

At C4M, our aim, while apolitical, is to support and amplify voices like David’s. Marriage brings unrivalled benefits to children, adults and wider society. This message must be heard.
