Emma highlights the value of intentional investment in marriage. She says: “It’s not a passive experience.” She claims that “our natural bent is towards selfishness”, and notes that “we have to train ourselves daily” to have successful marriages. Through various options, Emma helps couples develop the habits and tools they need to grow together. All courses are available regardless of faith background.

One core resource is ‘A Day Together’, a seminar designed to give couples “carved out time away” from the demands of everyday life to talk honestly and privately. There’s no public sharing, no group work, no awkward moments – just space for spouses to connect and refocus. The day is run by married couples who speak openly from experience, often sharing moments of failure and recovery. It’s a model based on vulnerability and hope.

Alongside this, ‘Together’ is a nine-session small group resource exploring the biblical vision for marriage. It’s about deepening communication, understanding differences, handling emotions, and leaving a legacy. Emma agrees that your marriage must leave a legacy, but the question is: what kind? The course has been adapted for engaged couples too.

For those wanting something more flexible, Agapé UK also offers ‘Toucan Together’ – a free app designed to help couples build emotional closeness, strengthen trust and resolve conflict. Emma suggests that you can use it for your date nights, and it fits around everyday life.

While Emma stresses that these courses don’t offer professional counselling, she’s clear on what they are: a practical, relational approach to strengthening marriages from a Christian perspective.

At C4M, we know that strong nations are built on strong marriages. The lifelong, exclusive commitment of one man and one woman matters for people, families, and society. Whether you prefer Agapé’s courses or those offered by C4M (get in touch!), we urge everyone to invest in their marriage as the critical core of a flourishing culture.
