FOR KIDS’ SAKE, END THE GAY MARRIAGE MYTH – KATY FAUST
Katy Faust, founder of Them Before Us, an organisation dedicated to placing children’s rights ahead of adult desires, recently joined me for an important discussion. Katy explored crucial aspects of marriage and parenting in our conversation, now available online in full here.
Katy addresses the tenth anniversary of the US Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision, highlighting how the ruling, which legalised same-sex marriage, “overrode the explicit will of the people in more than half of the states”. She argues: “Marriage is a matter of justice for children because it is the only relationship that unites the two people to whom children have a natural right.” Katy further emphasises: “if you make husbands and wives optional in marriage, you’re going to make mothers and fathers optional in parenthood”. This leads to harmful outcomes such as removing fathers and mothers from birth certificates and promoting ‘intent-based’ parenthood.
Katy asserts the uniqueness of the union between a man and a woman, emphasising exclusivity, complementarity, and permanence. “The child’s own biological mother and father are statistically the safest, most connected to, most invested in, and most protective of the child”, she notes. The breakdown of these elements directly harms children, increasing risks of neglect and abuse.
At C4M, the commitment remains clear: to champion real marriage as foundational for both the wellbeing of children and the health of society.
