$1m Raised to Defend Real Marriage in Maryland

During a recent trip to Washington DC, I had the pleasure of meeting Jeffrey Trimbath, President of the Maryland Family Institute, along with several other family organisation leaders. Following my conversation with Jeffrey, I knew our supporters would find great value in hearing about his experiences.
Maryland faces very similar challenges to those we encounter in the UK, particularly regarding governmental attitudes toward real marriage. Despite operating in a politically difficult environment, Jeffrey and his relatively new organisation have already made remarkable progress. You can watch our full conversation online here.
Jeffrey launched the Maryland Family Institute in November 2023 after extensive state-wide research into family structures and their impact on societal wellbeing. His research confirms that stable families, founded upon the marriage of a mother and father, consistently produce better outcomes for children. Jeffrey highlights this crucial point: “when we don’t form families the way God designed us to—with a mommy and a daddy who are married—bad things tend to happen.”
Impressively, having raised over one million dollars from a relatively small group of supporters, the Maryland Family Institute now actively drafts family-friendly legislation and closely monitors the actions of both elected and unelected officials. This proactive stance helps pro-family Maryland residents engage more effectively in the political process.
A particularly compelling insight from our conversation was Jeffrey’s emphasis on the critical role elite groups play in shaping public opinion and policy. He emphasises how essential it is to help influential leaders understand perspectives they might otherwise overlook. Jeffrey argues persuasively for proactive, calm, and regular engagement.
Jeffrey also points out an unsettling contradiction within Maryland’s political sphere, where certain leaders privately hold traditional values yet publicly support policies that undermine them. His organisation tirelessly works to address these contradictions by educating and mobilising citizens to take meaningful political action.
At C4M, we firmly believe that defending real marriage is fundamental to societal health and freedom. Jeffrey’s experience reminds us of the importance of consistently and calmly engaging with our MPs – even if initially, they may not fully agree with our perspectives. Your ongoing involvement, whether by staying informed, actively engaging your representatives, or inviting others to participate, can gradually and profoundly influence those in authority.
Never give in!
